COLBA product continues to impress with commitment to coaching and academics.

The City Of Leeds Basketball Club is happy to announce that Academy graduate Alex Scott has made a further commitment to the programme and to his studies in Leeds!

City Of Leeds Basketball Academy graduate and COLBC National League Coach Alex Scott has committed to another year with the programme following a successful first annum as a Community Coach and National League Coach with the club. This year will see him step up to the Head Coach role of the U16s Boys White Team.

Alex has made the strong decision to follow in the footsteps of Leeds Beckett University graduates Katie Lamond, Jake Shuttlewood and Murray Bingham to undertake his studies in undergraduate studies in Sports Coaching at LBU this September.

Alex has certainly found his feet this last year, coaching across the pathway and within our multiple community activities while having aspirations of developing himself further both on the court and in the classroom.

COLBC Director Matt Newby was delighted to see yet another sign of Alex's commitment to himself and to our young people:

“Alex has always maximised his potential both in the classroom and on the court and witnessing his growth as a coach is probably one of the highlights of the year. There is always a sense of pride when one of our own Academy products commits to our pathway and delivers. Alex has certainly done so this year and to embark on an undergraduate degree in sports coaching at LBU, I feel is a great decision. This will help unlock the potential Alex has as a coach and leader and we wish him all the best. Alex will have a great deal of responsibility this season with our U16 Boys White cohort which is one of the most exciting groups in the programme. He’s taking charge of a group with significant potential after working many of them last season and on the club's annual tour of Serbia, which benefited both Coach and young athletes tremendously."

Coach Scott was feeling ready for the season ahead:

"I'm really excited to be working with the U16 White this year, especially with the U16 development programme being where I began my journey with the City Of Leeds. This group boasts a lot of talent and I can’t wait to get started with them. I also look forward to starting my studies at Leeds Beckett University in Sports Coaching as I’m sure this will give me valuable resources and experiences to help me build on my coaching abilities."

As we approach the start of the new season, the club is welcoming prospective new players to come along and join our programme. Please contact foundation@cityofleedsbasketballclub.co.uk
