Academy Graduate Archie Wilson commits to a third year at Myerscough Academy.

The City Of Leeds Basketball Academy is proud to announce that graduating class member Archie Wilson will be moving on for a third year of development at perennial EABL contenders Myerscough Academy.

After spending over ten years with the City Of Leeds Basketball programme, we are delighted to see Archie taking the opportunity to maximise on his basketball journey for an extra year after succeeding in achieving great results in his A-Level Studies.

COLBC Director Matt Newby was proud to see another outstanding representative of our programme seizing a well-earned opprtunity:

"We are really proud that Archie has made the decision to enrol at Myerscough College under the guidance of such a highly regarded coaching team. The Myerscough programme continues to be a perennial contender with so much to offer. The additional year is imperative for so many young domestic players to hone their game and 12 month makes a huge difference in the return they can get from basketball. Whether that be higher education scholarship opportunities domestically or in the USA. We would like to thank coaches Troy Culley and Mike Bernard for their professionalism in the process and support of programme Director Neal Hopkins. Archie leaves COLBC following close to a decade with the club and we would like to wish him all the best as he chases his dreams."

Myerscough Academy Coach Troy Culley was full of praise for Archie's move:

"We're excited for Archie to join Myerscough. We've enjoyed a strong relationship with Coach Newby over the years and have welcomed players from his programme into ours on a number of occasions. Notable alumni include James Banton, who progressed throughout City of Leeds Basketball Club and Allerton High School to NBL Division 1 with the Lancashire Spinners during his time with us, and Aryan Davoodi, who moved from playing NBL Division 3 for a season to NBL Division 2 at Worcester last season. Archie's addition excites us, and we're eager to see this tradition of development continue through our consistent collaboration with COLBC coaches."

Archie, after enjoying a stellar season for the COLBA was raring to go after securing his spot on results day:

"I'm just really excited to get out there to Myerscough and develop my game to the next level. This is all thanks to Coach Newby and the staff at COLBC for preparing me and helping me progress from when I first picked up a ball, to be able to accept this amazing opportunity. I can't wait to see where it takes me!"
