COLBC are delighted to have three coaches involved on the bench at Basketball England's Aspire All-Star Tournament this weekend in Manchester.
Katie Lamond, Jake Shuttlewood and Ryan Weir will take their well-earned spots on the coaching rosters as the North of England take on the rest of the regions in the culmination of the performance pathway season.
Last year Team North picked up 3 out of 4 wins across the weekend with all 3 coaches featuring last time around. This year Coach Lamond and coach Weir will assistant coach for the U13 Girls & U15 Boys respectively, while Coach Shuttlewood will Head Coach the U13 Boys.
COLBC Director Matt Newby was very proud of the progress and successes of all three coaches:
"I am really proud of the fact that three of our coaching staff are involved in the super regional and Aspire platforms. They are all passionate about the game and dedicated to the development of young people in Yorkshire and North of England. Critically the Super Regional All-Star event affords coaches and players the opportunity to evolve and meet heightened challenges which only lead to greater development. Coach Lamond looked forward to another great weekend of action:
"Following the success of our North teams in 2022, I'm beyond excited to see what this weekend's tournament will bring. It's always a pleasure to work with young talent across different clubs and to collaborate with coaches and staff from different areas of our region. This year has its own challenges, and I can't wait to see what the teams produce. Regardless of what the results will be, it's been a brilliant process to be involved in for another year.
Coach Weir echoed the excitement ahead of the tournament:
"The Aspire All Star Tournament will be the culmination of 9 months of hard work from players and coaches alike. It's a pleasure to work with and develop the top talent in the North. We look forward to a successful weekend and I'd like to thank everyone who made this opportunity possible."
Finally, Coach Shuttlewood was thrilled to be taking on the challenge of the weekend:
"It's been a pleasure working with the Yorkshire and North of England regions over the last 9 months and I'm delighted to coach the U13 boys in the Head Coach position as previously last year in an Assistant role, this will be a new look for me in the All-Star Tournament. All of the boys have worked extremely hard to reach this point and I can't wait to see the hard work pay off over the big weekend. I would like to give a big thank you to all those who have made this event possible and to those who have given me the opportunity and support to showcase my ability on the National pathway."
