COLBC begins new officials development programme.

The City Of Leeds Basketball Foundation was delighted to welcome Basketball England Regional Chair, Andy Harrison-Beaumont to Allerton High School this week to deliver two Level 2 Table Official Courses to over 30 young people from across our programme.

Andy was kind enough to give her time across two evenings to join us in our commitment to growing the amount of qualified basketball officials in the Region.

All members of the City Of Leeds Basketball Academy undertook the course, alongside players and coaches from our U18 Girls, U16 Girls and U16 Boys teams.

This new qualification also allows our young people to make extra money as paid table officials across the Yorkshire region and beyond.

COLBC Director Matt Newby was buoyed by the success of both evenings:

"The members of COLBC would like to thank Andy Harrison Beaumont for delivering two quality table officiating courses. There is a significant need for more young people to step in to the game not just as players but as officials.

With over 30 young people being the beneficiaries of the BE level 2 course, our club, and the local basketball fraternity receives a much needed uplift in officials. This is the first of many course that we hope to deliver as part of an annual calendar of personal development and up-skilling for our young members."

Expressions of interest for future courses can be made by emailing foundation@cityofleedsbasketballclub.co.uk.
