The City Of Leeds Basketball Club is happy to announce that Coach Katie Lamond will return in her role as Head Coach of the U16 & U18 Women for the 2024/25 Junior National League Season
Following our most successful year to date with the Women & Girls programme, we are excited to announce that Katie Lamond will be returning to work with our U16 & 18 Women. The opportunity for us to build upon last year’s success and continue the development of an exciting group of young women is pivotal to the further ascension and stability of our Women & Girls offer.
Player development is central to our ethos and witnessing 3 of our young women ascend through the Aspire programme and represent the North in the Aspire All-Star Super Regional Tournament is an endorsement that we are making the right steps.
COLBC Director Matt Newby was excited to see Katie lead such an exciting group into an important season:
“After a very strong season of collective and individual development from the players and within Coach Lamond herself, I am excited to see the programme take another step forward. The appointments to both Super Region & England Talent Pathway Coaching roles cosign on our belief that we are not just developing players but coaches as well. Katie deserves a great deal of credit for making the very best of the opportunities that the club has given her. Her hard work and diligence has paid off and we look forward to seeing our players being the beneficiaries of the significant experience she has accrued in the last season both form wearing a National Team shirt and benefiting from our annual tour to Serbia. There aren’t enough women transitioning into coaching at this juncture and we feel Katie’s journey highlights the possibilities for our young people.”
Coach Lamond was buoyed ahead of a new and exciting season:
"Excited doesn't even come close to the feelings around starting this 2024/2025 season. Coming off the back of some major improvements within our development squads, along with the substantial successes of our U16s Gold and U18s Women's teams being crowned champions of their respective leagues - I truly feel like the progression and momentum is in our favour and I feel beyond lucky to be a part of the process. To be able to build from the advancements made last year, to have multiple female squads per age group as well as an U18s women cohort within a Premier tier is phenomenal. I'm proud of what this club and the girls have managed to achieve over the last few seasons and looking forward to seeing the continued growth this coming year."
As we approach the start of the new season, the club is welcoming prospective new players to come along and join our women & girls programme. Please contact foundation@cityofleedsbasketballclub.co.uk
