The City Of Leeds Basketball Foundation was delighted to host the first Leeds North East Primary School basketball festival of the year.
Our Foundation works with multiple partners across each academic year that are passionate about the growth of the game in the region, and the opportunity to work with young primary-age people has a direct impact on the future of basketball in our city.
PE Primary Transition Lead Lauryn Dean was buoyed by the successes of a brilliant afternoon at Allerton High School:
“The ongoing partnership with COLBC continues to provide opportunities for young people within our school and those transitioning to Allerton. These projects and programmes are inspirational for the children from within our feeder cluster. Today’s event saw role models from within our 6th form and the City of Leeds Basketball Academy which is embedded within the school deliver an up-tempo and exciting basketball festival. The academy players participated and coached the talented youngsters from Talbot, St Paul’s and Meanwood C of E primary schools, leaving them enthused about the sport!"
COLBC Director Matt Newby shared in the excitement of the day:
"The events in which we reach young people through our partner schools, are always exciting, engaging and impactful. A huge thanks to those schools who signed up to the event, our hosts Allerton High School and Chrisi Bennet for her continued support. The opportunity to showcase the excellent PE provision at Allerton and the strong collaboration with COLBC is important, as it shows the pathways that the young people can access at the school, both in curriculum and beyond."
