National Team Honours for Coach Lamond & Coach Shuttlewood!

Everyone at the City Of Leeds Basketball programme would like to congratulate Coach Katie Lamond & Coach Jake Shuttlewood on their appointments to the England Talent Pathway Coaching Teams.

It’s exciting times for two of our young and talented coaches, with both Katie Lamond and Jake Shuttlewood climbing the England Talent Pathway ladder. Each have received National Team call-ups as an England U14 Assistant Coach for Girls & Boys respectively. The club is incredibly proud of these achievements and it reflects our investment in young coaching talent, and the investment of our coaches in themselves and the sport.

COLBC Director Matt Newby was very proud of their achievements thus far:

“This is a significant achievement for both young coaches, who have remained loyal to our pathway over the past few years. Critically, they have contributed on a local, regional and national level via opportunities with the Performance Pathway. These experiences, have ensured their development and growth as coaches, and it’s an opportune time for them to challenge themselves further. Such opportunities are not easy to come by domestically and it truly reflects their hard work and diligence in forging their careers. I also feel it reflects the richness of our own coaching community at the City Of Leeds, where the coaches have received high levels of support and mentorship.”

Coach Katie Lamond was honoured to receive this opportunity:

"It’s an incredible honour to have the chance to assist the U14 girls on the England Talent pathway. Not only having the opportunity to represent at a national level, but to work with such high calibre coaches such as Ruth Eytle and Annie Scanlon is something I will not take lightly. I’m beyond excited to work with two phenomenal leaders and champions of the women’s game. I look forward to the challenges and experiences that coaching at this next level brings, as well as working with the brilliant home grown talent that England provides. I am thankful for all the people who have helped me get to this point, and extremely grateful to those who have given me this fantastic opportunity."

Coach Jake Shuttlewood shared in the excitement of representing his country:

“It will always be an honour to represent your country in anyway, shape or form and to now get the opportunity to coach the next generation of English talent coming through is very special to me. The chance to coach and work with some of England best players and coaches within the pathway is amazing, and I can’t wait to get started! I would like to thank everyone at City of Leeds Basketball Club for endorsing and supporting me up to this point!"

We wish both Coaches the very best for an exciting summer.
