The City Of Leeds Basketball Club is delighted to announce that James Quinn has been promoted to a new role within the programme's management team.
Following the evaluation and assessment of our basketball programme and activities, and accounting for the growth and expansion of the programme in several areas, we have made the bold decision to strengthen our management and administration structure by appointing James Quinn to the role of Business and Operations Manager.
Already a well-known face within the club, James has worked tirelessly on a number of levels, both on and off the court to strengthen our offer. Notably, his significant contribution to the re-emergence of the City Of Leeds Basketball Academy and the overhauling of our marketing, social media and web presence. Furthermore, his impact and input as the Associate Director of our partnered residential camp, Red Star Basketball Camp UK, has been invaluable.
On court, James will be making a transition to work within the younger categories of our Junior National League programme and will take the helm of the U14 Boys Gold Group for the 2024/25 season.
COLBC Director Matt Newby was buoyed by the new appointment:
“At this moment in time, given the depth and breadth of our community, development and performance spheres, I felt it was important to add well-needed support to the administration. Therefore, James will be taking the new role of Business & Operations Manager for the programme.
James has a clinical approach and a critical eye for detail which is integral to ensuring both our growth and sustainability. He will be leading in key areas, engaging new partners and continuing to oversee our digital and physical presence. I have no doubt that this will make us more robust and productive as a programme.
Furthermore, we are excited that the wealth of experience he has accrued over the last 3 years within the City Of Leeds Basketball Academy and University BUCS tiers, will benefit one of our most exciting generations as he guides our U14 Boys Gold squad as Head Coach in Basketball England’s U14 Premier Division this season.”
James shared his excitement on his new role within the club:
"It's been a privilege to be involved with the club for the last 3 years and it's incredibly exciting to begin looking forward in a new role, that focuses on sustaining the growth we have seen post-COVID. Off the floor we are looking to engage even further with our community, academic and business partners to continue evolving our offer, as we move into 2025. On the floor, our priority will very much remain developing and supporting our young people so that they may continue to excel through the platforms we provide. We have some fresh new projects being rolled out in the coming weeks and I'm really looking forward to working closely with Matt, Tina and the entire team to reach our ambitious targets for the next few years."
