Yorkshire-wide collaboration aims to produce 100 new officials over April weekend.

In a unified approach to developing the officiating fraternity in Yorkshire, COLBF, the Leeds & District League, and the Yorkshire Region, have collaborated to run three Basketball England officiating courses over the Leeds & District Finals Weekend.

On the 1st & 2nd April 2023, there will be the opportunity for people with aspirations of contributing to the game as table officials, referees and statisticians, to undertake their Level 2 training under the stewardship of experienced Basketball England Official Tutors. COLBF Director Matt Newby was excited about the prospect of contributing to the development of a new generation of officials, who can immediately impact the success and growth of Basketball in the Yorkshire region.

“I would like to thank Leeds & District League Chair Phil Harris and Yorkshire Region Chair Andy Harrison-Beaumont for their collaborative approach and ensuring that we can facilitate this course for Leeds & the wider area. Coupling the officials’ education with the Leeds & District League Finals weekend, will give people the opportunity to see the broader fraternity that they can be part of.”
